Product Design Engineering

Bachelor’s Degree - EAFIT University, Medellín, Colombia
Bachelor's Degree description
For a product to compete successfully in the market, it is essential that, in addition to technical and economic performance, it is a novel product, easy to understand, to operate and capable of generating a visual and aesthetic attraction.

That is why in this profession you bring together design factors, which make a product desirable to users; engineering factors, which ensure function and mass production; and market factors, which support the viability of the product as a business. Your product development skills are combined with consumer research, making marketing a cross-cutting area in your education.
My Projects
In this page, you will be able to see the most important and meaningful projects I made during the bachelors, with their main objective and the description of the final product that was developed and delivered by the end of that semester.

Second Semester - A1R3

It’s main objective is applying the concepts of firmness, utility and beauty in the design of a piece of furniture by using observation, collage, sketches, models in scale and blueprints with the purpose of developing abilities for the process of becoming a product design engineer.

A1-R3, that it name comes from the mix between numbers and letters so it can be seen as a camera lens model and also be read as the word Air (AIRE) in Spanish, is a piece of furniture inspired in a travel blogger, where the user can store his accessories of the camera inside and place scent diffusers on the top drawer with micro-perforated lid.

Third Semester - Mythos

Understanding the conceptualization as a fundamental stage in the design process, and in product developing, by studying and applying elements of inspiration, in forms and function.

Mythos is a dispenser inspired in the bottle of the perfume Eros by Versace. The dispenser had to hold at least 30 items and be completely functional, from storing the items to deliver them when its used.

Fifth Semester - Tiny

Design and development of a mobility solution, by using different tools like 3D modeling, construction of prototypes, simulations, calculations, and use of machines.

Tiny is a tricycle vehicle, powered by a 250Watt electric motor. It steered using a tilting system.
Tiny was meant to be a recreational vehicle.

Seventh Semester - STAF

Design and development of an autonomous vehicle by integrating machine technologies and electronics, also by multidisciplinary work.

STAF is an autonomous robot that helps the road painters to sketch the figure they need to have in the road, leaving a dashed line as the mask of the figure.
STAF: Servicio de Trazado Automático deFiguras (Service of Automatic FigureSketching).
